The repertoire is fabulously retro Rock and Soul, and their funky grooves and soulful vocals will keep you dancing and partying all night. With tunes by Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Marvin Gaye, Sly and the Family Stone and more, you can't miss having a groovin' good time!
Michael Beck
As the founding member of the much-loved & award-winning band, Dog Talk, percussionist & drummer, Michael Beck, has spent the last 12 years playing on the stages of some of the biggest festivals and high profile corporate events in the Midwest. Prior to 1993, he was the drummer for Arista recording artists, Happy The Man. Michael is also the owner of The Beck Agency, an entertainment booking company specializing in concert and special event booking and planning.
Allen "Turk" Burke
Practically a child protégé, Allen Burke was performing with Patti LaBelle at the age of 16. In addition, he has toured with Marvin Gaye, Dionne Warwick, and spent 23 years as Musical Director for The Spinners. One of his hand written arrangements for The Spinners is on display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Allen performed in the very popular Indianapolis group, Fresh, in the 1970's, touring extensively. This multi talented keyboardist/vocalist is also Director of Music Ministries at Speedway United Methodist Church.
Kenny Kipp
Originally from California & a member of Dog Talk since 1999, saxophonist and vocalist, Kenny Kipp has spent the last 20 years sharing his talents, both playing and teaching. He has worked in various genres, including rock & blues to funk and jazz. He brings a variety of horns to the table, including tenor, alto, & soprano sax, as well as wind synth.
Bill Lancton
11 year member of Dog Talk, guitarist Bill Lancton, is versed in funk, jazz, soul, rock, even country. Founding member of the very popular 1970's dance band, Fresh, Bill has also fronted his own jazz group, The Coalition, since 1994, and has released 3 of his own jazz cds. Cuts from all of his original work is heard extensively on Indianapolis' WTPI 107.9 FM & WICR 88.7 FM. Bill has played with Sam & Dave, performed at The Grand Ole Opry, and has played numerous festivals and corporate events with both Dog Talk and The Coalition.
Jim Litchfield
Also an 11 year member of Dog Talk, bassist Jim Litchfield, switched from trumpet to bass early in his musical career while playing gospel music. His first recording was with The Gospel Messengers at the age of 15. Influenced by Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clark, & Miles Davis, he has played every conceivable style of music including blues, pop, rock, jazz, country, and reggae.
Russell Taylor
With 30 years experience as a stage and studio vocalist and drummer, Russell is the perfect anchor for Hip Trip. His soulful vocals have been featured on over 100 commercials, and he has performed on numerous recordings for Alligator Records, Atlantic Records, and United Artist records. Russell also toured with Fresh, and is Musical Director of Alive Time Service at First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church.
